LEARNING OUTCOMES

🔵 🔴 🟡 Course description

The course aims to study narrative genres and analyze narrative practices, as they are encountered in old and new media, through linear and non-linear expressions. Through the multiple approaches of theory, from the structuralist model of 1960-1970 to the "narrative studies" of today (post-structuralist model), terms such as the point of view, the time and rhythm of the narrative, the first-person and third-person narration or the narrative gap are understood. The hero's journey, the development of a rich narrative world, the transformation of an idea into a story and a script are stages of a creative and often painful process of which we make the first draft. The student:

  • knows the toolbox of narrative techniques, and recognizes the components of storytelling

  • can understand the functions of narration as the main ways of making sense of reality

  • is able to compose a text summary and a short script
